I can’t believe we had our last GN/Anime Club meeting last week. Thanks to all of the students who planned and helped coordinate the meetings. Thanks also to the students who prepared and gave book talks. It was a lot of fun.

I can’t believe how quickly the months of April and May flew by. The Million Word Reader Club ended with our final party, and the announcement of the top readers.
Diana Zelaya was our top reader with a total of 4,176,540.
Alan Lopez came in 2nd with a total of 3,671,280 words read.
Brittany Levens was our 3rd place finalist with a total of 2,468,000 words read.
Xavier Portillo came in 4th place with a total of 1,856,690 words read. All of our Million Word Reader participants did an incredible job.
I can’t wait for next year….

It is about that time again!!! The GN/ANIME CLUB meeting is right around the corner. Join us Friday, March 31, at 4:15, in the library for book talks, gaming, food and FUN!!

Have you HEARD??? The Texas Library Association is proud to announce the new Texas Topaz Nonfiction Reading List. Named after the state gem of Texas, the Topaz list highlights nonfiction gems for readers from ages 5 to adult. The inaugural version of the list consists of 53 titles that will stimulate reading for pleasure and personal learning. I have included the link under the BLOG ROLL. Make sure you check it out!!!

Have you heard the news? The Samuell HS Library is now featuring a Book of the Week! The selected book will be introduced each Monday, during morning and afternoon announcements, so LISTEN UP!! A brief summary will be read by our wonderful student announcers, and if you like what you hear, get up to the library ASAP. The book will be available on a first come, first serve basis, and will be displayed on the counter next to the circulation computer!!!

The Samuell HS Library featured the artwork of Mateo Martinez during the month of February. Mateo is a talented artist who enjoys working with many mediums, and we appreciate him sharing his work with us. The artist of the month for March is Anthony Acy. We invite everybody to stop by and enjoy these works of art. We have many talented students, and the library is proud to display their creations.
